CommercialRV Resort’s New Building Gives Guests a Great Spot for Food, Fun, and Memories
The owner of Fox Hill RV Resort & Campground had an idea for a new, family-friendly gathering spot, one where guests could enjoy food and drinks, games for all ages, and even live music. Find out below why Wick was the perfect choice to build what today is called “The Fox Den.”

What the owner wanted
Campers at Fox Hill RV Resort & Campground typically want to get closer to nature. But for many of them, the great outdoors can be even greater with some modern food, fun, and recreation thrown in the mix.
That’s why owner Aaron Eickhorst wanted to add an attractive facility that could give guests a chance to do things like:
- Kick back and watch the game or their favorite show on a giant-screen TV
- Choose from a variety of tasty food and beverages when the mood strikes
- Play everything from arcade video games to classic ping-pong and pool
- Take in live music performances
- Let the family dog join in the fun with a pet-friendly building
Today, the new facility—appropriately named The Fox Den—serves as an inviting “hub of entertainment and relaxation,” says Aaron.
What was special about the project
Ideally, a new indoor space located within this wooded, serene setting would incorporate the beauty of the outdoors and include aesthetic touches to create a cabin-like feel.
The Fox Den does just that thanks to features like these:
- An open-air pavilion adjacent to the bar and game room area
- Four see-through garage doors that open up to an outdoor “game hill” and a swimming pond
- Rustic log posts and interior walls made of reclaimed wood
Who helped build it
Wick Buildings has been constructing post-frame buildings, aka pole barns, since 1954. Over the years, these versatile, highly durable buildings have proven to work well for a wide range of uses, including event centers, winery tasting rooms, recreational facilities, and campground buildings.
As for why Aaron opted to go with Wick, he says it came down to two factors:
Quality. For a firsthand look at the quality of a Wick building, Aaron drove to some real-life examples that were built nearby.
Service. When it came to service, Aaron says good communication began “right off the bat” with Wick’s first visit to the project site. “Coming here to my facility, walking around, and talking to me really kind of put all the puzzle pieces together to lay out a good rough estimate of what we wanted to accomplish.”
Why a pole barn from Wick Buildings was the right choice
Guests of all ages can now enjoy The Fox Den. Plus, the new facility gives them one more memorable reason to come back to Fox Hill RV Resort & Campground. And because the building is from Wick, Aaron has gained numerous advantages, including the following:
Excellent (and cost-effective) design support. Wick’s design capabilities played a big role in Aaron’s satisfaction and in an overall lower project cost. According to him, because Wick was able to provide “a next-level design,” he didn’t bring in an architect. “That was just a step that didn’t need to be in there because Wick is a jack-of-all-trades.”
Superior lumber. Wick uses only lumber that meets or exceeds machine-graded specifications for all structural components, from trusses and columns to girts and purlins. In addition to the visual benefits of this cleaner lumber, it’s at least 15% stronger than regular lumber.
Durable steel. All Wick pole barns include full-hard exterior steel, with 80,000 PSI hardness or better, resulting in fewer dents. That steel is also G-90 galvanized for better corrosion protection.
Exceptional paint performance. Our paint coatings are warrantied not to chip or crack for 40 years and come in a spectrum of colors. Highlights of The Fox Den include weathered grey wood siding for the walls and hunter green for the roof.
