Auto Restoration Company “Saved a Ton of Money” with Commercial Storage Garage from Wick

Working with someone local was important to the owner of this auto restoration company. But would that mean settling for a less experienced builder? Turns out that he got everything he wanted—a responsive builder from nearby who also had the knowledge and support to provide an exceptional building at a great value.

What the owner wanted

When Mark, the owner of Magnum Auto Restoration, decided it was time for a new commercial storage garage, his priorities for what he wanted in a builder included the following:

Local. “I like working with local people because they’re there when you need them.”

Knowledgeable. “But you also want a big company that has the knowledge, support, and engineering, so it’s not just a guy out of the back of his truck doing something.”

Responsive. “Sometimes you call a person and it takes ’em weeks, and you’re excited about a new project. You don’t want to wait.”

Based on a recommendation from one of his vendors, Mark reached out to Wick builder Ryan Hartman from Hartman Statewide Construction, who ultimately proved to meet all of those priorities (more on him below).

What was special about the project

Included with Mark’s project were Wick building specifications and drawings completed by a certified engineer. Mark had no trouble or surprises getting his building approved by the city.

On the other hand, he says just down the road from his new building sits another recently built pole barn that was not constructed by a Wick builder. According to Mark, the city made the owner of that building put in a continuous foundation underneath.

Mark estimates if he would have had to do that, it would have cost him $30,000. “I’m assuming that they did not have that kind of spec and that kind of engineering drawing because the same city engineer … didn’t make me do it, so I saved a ton of money.”

Who helped build it

Ryan Hartman, owner and president of Hartman Statewide Buildings, has been constructing a wide variety of Wick buildings for nearly 20 years.

Mark says Ryan was not only on site during construction to make sure everything went smoothly but was also back after the building was complete. “That always should be big to anybody, that service after the sale,” says Mark.

Why a pole barn from Wick Buildings was the right choice

Beyond the experience and engineering expertise that benefitted Magnum Auto Restoration, the company has also gained other advantages with a commercial storage building from Wick, including the following:

Superior lumber. Wick uses only lumber that meets or exceeds machine graded specifications for all structural components, from trusses and columns to girts and purlins. In addition to the visual benefits of this cleaner lumber, it’s at least 15% stronger than regular lumber.

Durable steel and plenty of aesthetic options. All Wick pole barns include full-hard exterior steel, with 80,000 PSI hardness or better, resulting in fewer dents. That steel is also G-90 galvanized for better corrosion protection. Our paint is warrantied not to chip or crack for 40 years and comes in a spectrum of colors. Highlights of Magnum Auto Restoration’s new building include Modern Red wainscoting, Smoke Gray walls, and a Modern Red roof.

A building great for company image and customer peace of mind. The new storage facility that owner Mark now has is more than a high-quality, low-maintenance garage. It’s also a safe and secure, professional-looking building—great qualities for Mark’s car collector customers.
