New Equestrian Buildings Become “Old Lady Playground” for This Happy Owner

Horses are a serious hobby for Lisa. She can easily spend all day tending to them, which is why she needed a horse barn and riding arena that could be like a home away from home. She got that and more by choosing Wick Buildings.

Why the owner is so satisfied

“We are at my horse barn and the old lady playground,” Lisa happily says. “This is where my friends and I gather, and we play with our horses.”

Lisa estimates she spends around eight hours a day there “working horses, keeping things up,” and enjoying herself at those “old lady play dates,” as she calls them.

So why is she so delighted with her new horse barn and riding arena? Lisa was able to achieve a look and feel that was more than just stunning. It reflects who she is. “This is above and beyond what the horses need. This is more my aesthetic.”

What was special about the project

Although Lisa says, “I’m very picky,” there’s nothing wrong with wanting what you want. And that’s especially true when you’re trying to create a horse haven—and your own playground sanctuary.

Lisa wanted black window frames for her stable, but she didn’t care for the standard window options, which typically come with white dividers. “That doesn’t work for me. If you want a black window, you want black dividers.”

But that wasn’t a problem for her builder, Tim Noble of Kentuckiana Building and Development (more on him below). “Tim found the manufacturer that has those barn windows and made it happen, so he went the extra mile for me.”

Who helped build it

Tim Noble, owner of Kentuckiana Building and Development, is an authorized Wick builder who’s been going the extra mile for his clients for 20 years.

Lisa says, “Tim makes it easier than many because other manufacturers do not include all of the bells and whistles. Tim did it start to finish.”

That includes everything from finding a reliable concrete company to designing the gorgeous beamwork to finding just the right gooseneck lights.

Why a pole barn from Wick Buildings was the right choice

Today Lisa has buildings that are both gorgeous and extremely functional. In fact, because her horse barn and riding arena are from Wick, she’s gained numerous advantages, including the following:

Superior lumber. Wick uses only lumber that meets or exceeds machine-graded specifications for all structural components, from trusses and columns to girts and purlins. In addition to the visual benefits of this cleaner lumber, it’s at least 15% stronger than regular lumber.

Durable steel. All Wick pole barns include full-hard exterior steel, with 80,000 PSI hardness or better, resulting in fewer dents. That steel is also G-90 galvanized for better corrosion protection. Our paint coating is also warrantied not to chip or crack for 40 years and comes in a spectrum of colors.

Lots of great building options. Highlights of Lisa’s equestrian buildings include a wash stall and tack room, a lounge with kitchen, a vented cupola, and eave lights in the arena.

Exceptional quality for the long term. As the years go by, Lisa can continue to enjoy plenty of play time with her friends—both horses and humans. And because she’s chosen Wick buildings, she’ll benefit from reliable, low-maintenance facilities that are built to last.
